Ok, so last week I showed you the 2 words that are guaranteed to increase conversions. This week, as promised, I want to show you the most important word you can use on your site.

It’s important to understand that another big problem that many business sites have, is that they are far too focused on themselves. But here is the hard reality, no one cares about you or your business. They care about themselves.

Who is the first person you look for in a group photo you are in? Yourself!

And when visitors land on your site, they are looking for themselves. What is in it for them? What can you do for them?

The Most Important Word

Since we know that your customers care about themselves far more than you, the most important word on your site is  “You”. And when I say that, I mean in reference to your customers. As we saw in last weeks post, you should literally be using the word “you”. Don’t speak at your customers with 3rd party language.

Too often I find websites that spend so much time on the business and very little on the customer. Your “state of the art” equipment, isn’t going to convince a visitor that you care enough about them.

Your site should talk mainly about the customer and how you are going to answer their questions or concerns.

What do you offer them, that no one else can? That should be the main message of your site.

I’m going to finish right there, I don’t think you need a long blog post to drive that point home.

Go through your website, actually all copy for that matter, and see if you are talking more about you or your customers.

Look at it from their standpoint. Are you addressing their concerns? Will the find themselves in the copy?
